The noam inverted triangle is formed of three points. Values (nu) at the bottom point are related to awareness (iota) as satisfaction (pi) and to potential response (kappa) as motivation (tau) and the link from pi to tau is denoted by xi. This xi acts as an indicator of disatisfaction and the need to do something about it: it potentiates motivation, and motions a kinetic response (rho) selected from the available potential responses (kappa).
Upsilon is a more direct path from awareness to potential, which shorcuts, or shortcircuits, the longer evaluation and decision cycle by employing rule goverened behaviour in decision making. Both upsilon and xi have a similarity in that they bridge the oblique edges, connect iota to kappa (and therefore sigma to rho stimulus-response function), and abstract nu. A relationship between xi and upsilon can be considered and denoted by omicron. Omicron is therefore a function implicated in the formation of rule goverend behaviour.
These formulae could be fleshed out further, but it isn’t really that important. Its funciton is predominantly of a theoretical concern, rather than something cliologically practical. I Have not pondered much on the significance of omicron, but it would seem to be implied in some learning reinforcement. So where dissatisfaction gives rise to the potentiation motivation (the urge to action); it could be that this omicron function puts a weighting on the likelihood that a stimulus will enact a certain response. I will apply this meaning to omicron until something better arises. One possibility is that omicron could could be implicated in classical conditioning (dog + food + bell -> slaver), or perhaps transfer of stimulus function in contextual behavioural science, or perhaps more sophisticated from Zen and flow psychology, the mastery of mushin.
